The best way to maintain the quality of your skillet is to cook with it! The coats of oil will accumulate and create other protective layers to the surface of your skillet.

SEASONING YOUR CAST IRON SKILLET:

Preheat your oven at 500 F

Wash you skillet with warm water and a little soap.

Using a paper towel, scrub your cast iron skillet with a thin layer of neutral oil, for instance vegetable or canola oil.

Place your skillet upside down in your oven for 1 hour. (you can place a baking sheet on the bottom rack to catch the drippings)

Let is cool down and scrub a second thin coat of oil before storing it.

Season again when your skillet starts looking dry or when it loses its shine.
